Compliment Sandwiches are a Lie

One reason most people feel uncomfortable taking a compliment is that we've bought into the LIE of compliment sandwiches--giving a complement to soften someone up before a criticism, and then placating them with another complement.

This is passive-aggressive poison.

When we hear a complement, we subconsciously are waiting for that other shoe to drop.

Most people appreciate when you are real with them, and they'll respect you for getting down to business (in a tactful, non-caustic way, of course).

If you are trying to be more authentic, I encourage you to give a GENUINE complement this week--with no strings attached....and if you need to make a criticism, do so honestly and with kindness.
